MALASIQUI, Pangasinan – The police personnel of Binmaley Police Station conducting routing checkpoint operations in Barangay Balindong, Binmaley, Pangasinan have confiscated over PHP1.6 million worth of suspected marijuana and arrested one individual.

Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPPO) information officer Capt. Aileen Catugas, in a phone interview on Thursday, said a 20-year-old male suspect abandoned his motorcycle and fled leaving his backrider, a 19-year-old female at the scene upon noticing a team of operatives conducting the checkpoint.

“Recovered from the possession of the arrested female suspect were several sachets and containers containing suspected marijuana and hybrid liquid marijuana products with a total weight of 475 grams,” she said.

Catugan said a hot pursuit operation is ongoing for the possible arrest of the male suspect.

Charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act are now being prepared against the arrested suspect.

PPPO officer-in-charge Lt. Col. Marceliano Desamito Jr. said the successful operation reflects the strong commitment of the Pangasinan police in intensifying the campaign against illegal drugs.

He assured the public that sustained checkpoint operations and law enforcement efforts will continue to ensure the safety and security of communities across the province. (PNA)
