MANILA – President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Thursday led the distribution of assistance to small-scale vendors and barangays in Palayan City, Nueva Ecija, as part of efforts to ease economic pressures at the grassroots level.
The President distributed 10 kilos of rice each to 100 ambulant or small-scale vendors and personally interacted with beneficiaries during the activity.
He also inspected Kadiwa stores, which provide affordable agricultural products and basic commodities to vulnerable sectors, including senior citizens, solo parents, persons with disabilities, and beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program.
Following the distribution, Marcos met with the city’s 19 barangay captains to discuss local concerns, particularly challenges in the education sector.
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said the President sought updates on the needs of communities and local governments.
Each barangay will receive PHP200,000 from the Office of the President’s socio-civic project funds to support education and development initiatives.
Castro said PHP100,000 per barangay will be allocated under the Bawat Barangay Makikinabang Program to assist students.
Five graduating students from each barangay, identified as Bagong Pilipinas Barangay Scholars, will receive PHP20,000 each to support their education. (PNA)
