MANILA – Two overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) were honored for their exemplary dedication and performance during the 2026 New Taipei Annual Awarding Ceremony as part of New Taipei City’s Labor Day celebration on April 30.
In a social media post on Friday, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said the recognition was conferred by New Taipei City Mayor Hou Yu-ih to Ronnel Tomas De Lumban, who works at Din Tai Fung, and to Beverly Genobiagon Lagarto of Garmin Corp. at the New Taipei City Hall.
“Kinilala si De Lumban sa kanyang positibong pag-uugali, maayos na pakikitungo sa mga kasamahan, at pagiging mentor sa mga bagong empleyado (De Lumban was recognized for his positive attitude, his good relations with colleagues, and being a mentor to new employees),” Migrant Workers Office (MWO) – Taipei Labor Attaché Alejandro Padaen said.
He said De Lumban also serves as a dormitory supervisor, helping maintain order and discipline in their residence.
“Samantala, pinarangalan naman si Lagarto dahil sa kanyang ambag sa assembly, testing, at packaging operations ng kanilang kumpanya, pati na rin sa pagtulong bilang interpreter sa pagitan ng mga Taiwanese supervisors at mga manggagawa (Meanwhile, Lagarto was honored for her contributions to the assembly, testing, and packaging operations of their company, as well as for acting as an interpreter between the Taiwanese supervisors and the workers),” Padaen said.
He said both awardees demonstrated diligence, responsibility, and excellence in their respective jobs, earning the respect and admiration of their managers and co-workers.
The New Taipei City government said the annual recognition aims to encourage workers to continuously improve their skills for their professional and personal development.
The MWO-Taipei said the recognition underscores the value of teamwork and mutual support among OFWs, highlighting their role as an inspiration to the broader migrant community. (PNA)
