MANILA – Authorities arrested six drug suspects and seized more than PHP101 million worth of suspected shabu in separate anti-drug operations in Parañaque City and Leyte province on Thursday, the Philippine National Police (PNP) reported Friday.
In Parañaque City, a joint buy-bust conducted by the PNP and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Barangay Sun Valley led to the arrest of five individuals, including a suspect known by the alias “Bossing.”
In a statement, the PNP identified the group as newly classified high value individuals in the illegal drug trade.
Operatives confiscated more than 13 kilograms of suspected shabu valued at PHP91,045,200, along with firearms, ammunition, cash and other non-drug evidence.
Meanwhile, in Dulag, Leyte, authorities arrested a 45-year-old listed No. 3 in the regional priority target list.
Recovered from the suspect were approximately 1,547 grams of suspected shabu worth PHP10,519,600, as well as buy-bust money, boodle money and personal belongings.
The PNP said all evidence were properly marked and inventoried at the scene of the arrests in the presence of required witnesses, in compliance with established procedures.
The suspects will face charges for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.
“Hindi titigil ang PNP sa pagtugis sa mga sangkot sa ilegal na droga (The PNP will not stop pursuing those involved in illegal drugs). We will continue to act decisively, within the bounds of the law, to protect our communities,” PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said in a news release. (PNA)
