MANILA – Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla on Tuesday subpoenaed all available Statements of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALNs) of a former executive of the House of Representatives as part of a “thorough investigation into the alleged irregularities concerning certain infrastructure projects.”
In its subpoena duces tecum, Remulla asked House of Representatives Secretary General Cheloy Garafil to submit copies of former House deputy secretary general Sofonias Gabonada Jr.’s SALNs from the start of his service in the House.
According to the subpoena, the Office of the Ombudsman seeks the documents “to assess whether there has been any undeclared accumulation of wealth or financial anomalies that may indicate misconduct.”
The subpoena, addressed to House Secretary General Cheloy Garafil, was received on Tuesday, directing the House to submit Gabanoda’s SALNs within three days from receipt of the order.
Wala po kaming intensyong magpakita ng kawalang-galang o umiwas sa pagtugon. Ang lahat ng opisyal na komunikasyon ay aming aasikasuhin nang naaayon sa mga tuntunin at may buong paggalang sa institusyon (We have no intention of being disrespectful or avoiding responding. We will handle all official communications in accordance with the rules and with full respect for the institution),” Garafil said in a statement. (PNA)
