MANILA – Authorities confiscated PHP42.17 million worth of illegal drugs and arrested 120 suspects in nationwide operations conducted from March 19 to 26.
In a statement Monday, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Director General Isagani Nerez said a total of 88 operations were carried out across the country during the period.
“All our efforts were anchored on the mandate of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to suppress the demand for illegal drugs and to build a drug-free, compassionate Bagong Pilipinas (New Philippines),” he said.
Seized during the operations were 2,024.33 grams of suspected shabu; 57,434 marijuana plants; 138,477 grams of dried marijuana leaves; 10,000 marijuana seedlings; and 2,525 grams of marijuana stalks.
Of those arrested, 69 were identified as drug pushers, while 11 were alleged drug den operators.
All suspects will face charges under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The confiscated items are now in government custody for forensic examination and will be presented as evidence in court proceedings, PDEA said. (PNA)
