MANILA – James Van Ramoga and Sofia Adriana Calvo clinched victories in their respective divisions at the Sunrise Sprint Triathlon last Sunday in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.

Van Ramoga completed the 750m swim, 20km bike, and 5km run in 1 hour, 17 minutes, and 37 seconds, edging out John Paul Daquioag (1:17:46) and Mejares Naune Elison (1:21:07).

In the women’s division, Calvo secured the title with a time of 1:39:17, beating Lucienne Aragones (1:44:15) and Princess Kedtag (1:52:17).
Meanwhile, Bastien Poupelain of France and Agnieszka Najnigier-Pierzynowska of Poland triumphed in the IRONMAN 70.3 event.

Poupelain clocked 4:24:19 to claim the men’s title over Hidekazu Takahashi of Japan (4:26:26) and Petr Lukosz of Czech Republic (4:34:45).

Najnigier-Pierzynowska registered 5:33:32 to secure the women’s title over Emma Rickard of Great Britain (5:40:49) and Nicole Chau of Hong Kong (5:46:43).

Top Filipino finishers JS Teves ranked 4th after clocking in 4:36:44 in the men’s division and Mary Pauline Fornea ranked 5th at 5:49:19 in the women’s division.

They both received PHP50,000 each from Princesa Garden Hotel.

Team Tandika Tri, representing Puerto Princesa City, won PHP200,000 for having the biggest delegation with 42 members. (PNA)
