MANILA – The National Amnesty Commission (NAC) announced it has so far received a total of 2,424 amnesty applications.

According to the latest NAC tally, 1,546 of the applications were from former members of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army-National Democratic Front (CPP-NPA-NDF).

Meanwhile, 63 applications were received from the Rebolusyonaryong Partido ng Manggagawa-Pilipinas/Revolutionary Proletarian Army Alex Boncayao Brigade (RPM-P/RPA/ABB); 518 from the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF); and 297 from the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF).

NAC said it recently participated in the Inter-Cabinet Cluster Mechanism on Normalization, led by the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity, where it received its highest single-day intake of 127 applications from the MILF and MNLF.

The commission also participated in the first intake activity with members of the RPM-P/RPA/ABB–Tabara Paduano Group, now known as Kapatiran Para sa Progresong Panlipunan, in Tanjay City, Negros Oriental.

The visit further reached the 79th Infantry Batallion in Sagay City, Negros Occidental where 41 applications from Kapatiran members were received.

The NAC is tasked to receive and process amnesty applications and determine whether the applicant is entitled to the presidential amnesty. (PNA)
