MANILA – The Airports Council International (ACI) World has recognized the Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) as Best Airport in Asia Pacific under 5 to 15 million passengers per annum category.
The ACI, in partnership with technology firm Amadeus, announced the winners on March 10.
“We had been working hard in ensuring we bring world-class airport experience and elevate the perception of airports in the Philippines,” Aboitiz InfraCapital Cebu Airport Corporation (ACAC) chief executive officer Athanasios Titonis said in a statement Tuesday.
“This win is key in our vision of becoming the main tourism and transfer gateway in the country,” he added.
ACI’s Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Award recognizes airport excellence in customer experience based on direct passenger feedback. It measures passenger satisfaction in real time, based on feedback collected directly from travelers at the airport.
Mactan-Cebu International Airport Authority (MCIAA) general manager Julius Neri said they share the recognition to all stakeholders and partners.
“We have always been proud of what MCIA has accomplished and how it brings pride to Cebuanos. Now, it has brought pride beyond Cebu but also for the entire Philippines,” Neri said.
ACI World Director General Justin Erbacci said MCIA’s recognition highlights the team’s ability to make every passenger’s trip memorable and enjoyable.
The MCIA, managed by ACAC, handles over 11 million international and domestic passengers annually. (PNA)
