MANILA – The Philippine Senate’s official Viber channel will serve as “shield” against misinformation as the Chamber seeks to strengthen public access to verified and timely legislative updates, Senate President Francis Escudero said Tuesday.

A post about the Senate’s Viber channel was made through the Senate’s official Facebook page, which also urged the public to follow the Chamber’s official social media accounts namely on Facebook https://bit.ly/4bEKXW0, Instagram https://bit.ly/41C6ZEd, X https://bit.ly/4iXqTAL and Tiktok https://bit.ly/4iGPUzZ.

“Misinformation is a plague, and in the age of instant communication, it spreads like wildfire. The Senate Viber Channel is a shield against that plague,” Escudero said.

The Senate president emphasized that providing citizens with credible and accessible information is essential in enabling them to make informed decisions and in promoting responsible civic engagement.

“It is our responsibility to equip our citizens with verified facts and empower our people to make responsible choices,” he added.

The Senate’s Viber channel aims to serve as a reliable platform for the dissemination of accurate information on legislative activities, official events, and institutional developments. (PNA)
