MANILA – Three Vietnamese nationals were arrested in Cavite for allegedly practicing medicine without the necessary licenses and permits, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) reported Sunday.
In a news release, the CIDG identified the arrested foreigners as Julie Nguyen, Luna Pham and Ryan Truong.
The three were arrested on Feb. 27 at a beauty lounge in Imus City for violation of Republic Act 2382 or The Medical Act.
According to the belated report, the suspects introduced themselves as doctors. They performed stem cell, hair regrowth, body sculpture and biostimulation collagen injections and other derma-related procedures without the required medical licenses and permits to dispense medical products, operate a medical facility, or practice medicine in the Philippines.
Confiscated from the suspects were numerous boxes of assorted medicines and medical and cosmetic products; notebooks documenting medical procedures; prescription medications; and receipts issued to clients.
Complaints have already been filed against the suspects before the National Prosecution Service.
“We encourage the public to report any illegal practice of medicine and other criminal activities in your localities and your CIDG will do the rest,” CIDG chief Maj. Gen. Nicolas Torre III said in a statement. (PNA)
