MANILA – University of Santo Tomas seeks its third win against Adamson University in the UAAP Season 87 men’s volleyball tournament at SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City on Saturday.

UST faces Adamson at 10 a.m. It is tied for second place with National University and Ateneo de Manila University at 2-1, behind unbeaten Far Eastern University,

NU meets winless University of the East in the other match at noon.

The Golden Spikers, despite the absence of injured reigning Most Valuable Player Josh Ybañez, have won their last two matches, against University of the East Warriors, 25-17, 25-18, 25-19, and the De La Salle Green Spikers, 25-21, 25-20, 25-16.

“The result speaks for itself,” UST coach Odjie Mamon said in a news release on Friday. “They were able to extend the good vibes until now. I’m not afraid of a key player leaving because everyone is a key player.”

Meanwhile, the five-peat seeking Bulldogs hope to bounce back from their 25-27, 14-25, 23-25 loss to the Tamaraws.

In the women’s division, defending champion NU eyes its fourth straight win against UE at 4 p.m.

UST and Adamson, in a three-way tie for second with University of the Philippines at 2-1, square off at 2 p.m.

Angeline Poyos will banner the Tigresses, who are coming off a 25-13, 22-25, 13-25, 25-23, 15-13 win over the Green Spikers.

Shai Nitura will lead the Lady Falcons, who defeated the Lady Warriors, 25-20, 25-15, 25-12, on Wednesday.

The Lady Bulldogs survived the Lady Tamaraws, 25-15, 23-25, 24-26, 25-23, 15-8, for their third win. (PNA)
