MANILA – After surviving a tough match last weekend, Creamline Cool Smashers must remain consistent to sustain its winning run in the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference.
The Cool Smashers meet the Chery Tiggo Crossovers at 4 p.m. Thursday.
Creamline managed to pull off a 25-19, 26-24, 23-25, 23-25, 15-9, victory over Cignal last weekend to remain unbeaten after seven outings.
Bernadeth Pons came up with a brilliant performance in the crucial fifth set. She finished with 27 points off 24 kills, two aces and a block, and made 14 excellent digs.
“I just want to be consistent. My goal every day in training is to improve, even if it’s just by one percent,” said Pons, voted as Press Corps Player of the Week Pilipinas Live for the period of Jan. 28 to Feb. 1.
“In training, everyone is extremely competitive. It’s tough to score, and no one lets the ball drop easily. That’s why in a game, I won’t just give in easily,” added the 2024 Reinforced Conference Most Valuable Player.
Creamline head coach Norman Miguel will also rely on Tots Carlos, Jema Galanza, Bea de Leon, Michele Gumabao, Pangs Panaga and Alyssa Valdez.
Chery Tiggo lost to ZUS Coffee, 22-25, 22-25, 25-23, 20-25, last Jan. 30 to share fifth place with Akari at 5-4.
Leading the Crossovers are Ara Galang, Cess Robles, Shaya Adorador, Aby Maraño, Seth Rodriguez and Pauline Gaston.
Meanwhile, Cignal (5-3) tries to bounce back when it battles Capital1 (1-7) at 6:30 p.m. (PNA)
