MANILA – A male passenger bound for China was arrested at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 after a loaded firearm magazine was found in his trolley bag Thursday.

A Facebook post by the PNP Aviation Security Group’s (PNP AVSEGROUP) said the .45 caliber magazine loaded with seven rounds of ammunition was detected in the man’s trolley bag during x-ray screening, sans any Commission on Elections gun ban exemption certificate.

Manual inspection was conducted in front of the passenger and airport police.

The AVSEGROUP said the man, along with the confiscated items, was brought to NAIA Police Station 1 for documentation and in preparation for filing of appropriate charges.

“This arrest demonstrates our dedication to keep airports free from unauthorized firearms,” PNP AVSEGROUP Director PBGen Christopher Abecia was quoted in the post. (PNA)
