CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Police operatives in Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental seized PHP2.21 million worth of illegal drugs from two operations on Friday dawn.

Brig. Gen. Jaysen de Guzman, the director of the Police Regional Office in Northern Mindanao (PRO-10), said joint police operations executed search warrants at the residences of suspects in the illegal drug trade.

“We urge the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with authorities in reporting suspicious activities in their communities,” he said in a statement.

At around 1 a.m., joint police units served a search warrant against a certain “Boboy” in Zone 11, Siyayon, for violating Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The suspect was not present during the operation, but authorities seized seven large heat-sealed plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, weighing some 75 grams, with a street value of PHPP510,000 and several other items.

An hour later, another search warrant was executed in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-10 against a suspect named “Cardo,” at the same location but in a different residence.

The suspect evaded arrest, but authorities seized 28 sachets containing suspected shabu, weighing 250 grams with an estimated value of PHP1.7 million.

In Northern Mindanao, the police reported that an anti-illegal drug campaign conducted 59 operations from Feb. 13 to 19, resulting in the arrest of 59 individuals and confiscation of 394.4 grams of shabu, valued at an estimated PHP2.68 million.

Police retirement

Meanwhile, the Police Retirement and Benefits Service (PRBS) launched the “Serbis Bilis” caravan and signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with several stakeholders at the PRO-10 headquarters here.

The MOU was signed between PRBS and key stakeholders to ensure better access to medical care, educational and vocational opportunities, and pension services for retired police personnel.

Brig. Gen. Dindo Reyes, the PRBS director, said its team assures services will not stop in providing a smoother and faster way of receiving the retirees’ well-deserved benefits.

“We will continue to innovate, improve, and serve with passion, care, and utmost dedication,” he said. (PNA)
