MANILA – President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Saturday expressed elation over the high number of job seekers who were hired on the sport during the “Trabaho at Serbisyong Pangkalusugan sa Bagong Pilipinas” (Jobs and health services for a New Philippines) at Alonte Sports Arena in Biñan City, Laguna.

“Mukhang dito yata sa Biñan, dito sa Laguna, pinaka-successful (It seems like here in Biñan, here in Laguna, [the job fair is] the most successful),” Marcos said, as he noticed that many applicants were wearing “HOTS” (hired on the spot) shirts.

“Marami po sa inyo ang nakarating, ng magkaroon naman, mapakinabangan po ang ating serbisyo fair. Natutuwa naman ako na napuno natin ang stadium ninyo at nandito kayo lahat (Many of you came, so that you would benefit from our service fair. I am glad that we filled your stadium and that you are all here),” he added.

Marcos thanked the participating employers and pledged that more job fairs would be held in other parts of the country.

The President said his administration would take a “whole-of-government” approach to address the challenges faced by Filipinos, especially those who are from the vulnerable sectors.

He acknowledged the local government’s contribution in ensuring the success of the national government’s livelihood and employment programs.

“Ginagawa po namin ang whole-of-government approach dahil sa aming pananaw, ‘yung malaking problem ang hinaharap ng taumbayan ay hindi kakayaning ayusin ng isang departamento lamang. Kailangan, ipagsama-sama natin lahat ng kakayahan ng pamahalaan, lahat ng yaman, lahat ng galing ng lahat ng nasa pamahalaan na makakatulong (We are taking a whole-of-government approach because, in our view, the big problems faced by the people cannot be solved by just one department. We need to bring together all the capabilities of the government, all the resources, all the talents of everyone in the government who can help),” Marcos said.

“Gagawin namin kung ano ang kaya naming gawin. Asahan po ninyo gagawin po namin. At asahan po ninyong ang inyong pamahalaan ay walang ginawa kundi mag-isip, maghanap, magtrabaho upang mapaganda ang takbo ng pamahalaan para mapabilis, mapaganda, at maparami ang serbisyo ng pamahalaan para sa inyo, para sa ating mga kababayan (We will do what we can. Expect us to do it. And expect your government to do nothing but think, search, and work to improve the way the government works so that it can fast-track, improve, and increase government services for you, for our countrymen),” he added.

Around 26 local employers and companies invited by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) offered job opportunities.

Other government services and benefits were also made available to Laguna residents.

Some 3,000 graduating members of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program, who are also beneficiaries of the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation program, received financial aid of PHP3,000 each.

The DOLE also distributed PHP5,600 each to 200 beneficiaries of the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers emergency employment program.

Meanwhile, the Department of Health conducted a medical mission and turned over various anti-dengue logistics, such as insecticides, larvicides and long-lasting insecticides to the city health offices of Biñan and San Pedro. (PNA)
