MANILA – The Philippine National Police (PNP) has become more resilient and agile in overcoming challenges due to its unswerving commitment to serve the country, according to Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin on Monday.
In his speech during the 33rd PNP Foundation Day held at Camp Crame in Quezon City, Bersamin lauded PNP’s uniformed and non-uniformed members for their professionalism and commitment to duty.
“On this occasion of celebration, I deem it to be opportune to urge every element of the police force to renew the pledge of commitment to duty that you made when you began your service,” Bersamin said.
“Only by such renewal may the PNP morally lead the campaign to stifle any threat to the peace and order of our communities. Lest we forget, the PNP should unswervingly advocate the rule of law at all times and should be tireless and relentless in protecting the people and ensuring their safety,” he added.
Bersamin said the PNP has made remarkable strides in the containment of criminality through the implementation of the 5-focus agenda under the leadership of PNP chief Gen. Benjamin Acorda Jr., who wants anti-criminality, internal cleansing, transformational leadership, institutional capability development and community engagement prioritized.
“The PNP has thereby shown the resolve to pursuit its mandate of assuaging the people’s thirst for justice, order and security in a manner that resonates with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s aspirations for a Bagong Pilipinas. We must all accept that the PNP cannot triumph as an institution of law enforcement unless its members first earn and deserve the trust and the support of the communities they serve,” Bersamin said
Acorda said PNP reaffirms its commitment “to service and to honor the ideals that shape beloved nation.”
“As we come together on this foundation day, we do not simply mark the passage of time. We celebrate a legacy of service, sacrifice and dedication,” he said.
He urged police and enlisted personnel to honor the countless officers of the force whose blood, sweat, and tears nurtured the PNP’s foundation.
“Their sacrifices are etched in the chronicles of history and their memories will be the driving force behind our commitment to serve,” Acorda said. (PNA)
