MANILA – The Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) said Tuesday that detained Chinese businessman Tony Yang has been hospitalized after a medical emergency.

Yang, whose real name is Yang Jian Xin, is facing charges in connection with Philippine offshore gaming operations (POGOs).

In a statement sent to reporters, PAOCC spokesperson Winston Casio said Yang was rushed to the St. Luke’s Medical Center in Taguig City on Monday afternoon after complaining of congested chest pains and showing the on-duty PAOCC personnel his blood-covered handkerchief.

“He has been diagnosed with suspected tuberculosis and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease by the attending physician at the hospital,” Casio said.

He said the alleged POGO financier had been coughing up blood for three straight days.

“Mr. Yang is the latest in a series of PAOCC wards who have been hospitalized for various medical issues. However, his case is the most serious, needing immediate and long-term attention,” the PAOCC said.

Yang is facing pending cases of falsifying documents, perjury, and violations of the Anti-Alias Law.

He is the elder brother of Michael Yang, the former economic adviser of former president Rodrigo Duterte. (PNA)
