MANILA – Cignal pulled off a 25-18, 25-23, 25-22 victory over ZUS Coffee to fortify its bid for a Qualifying Round berth in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference at the FilOil Center in San Juan on Thursday.
The Super Spikers relied on Vanessa Gandler, Maria Angelica Cayuna, and Roselyn Doria-Aquino to fend off the gritty Thunderbelles after one hour and 26 minutes.
Gandler led with 20 points and 13 excellent receptions as Cignal improved to 5-2 and stayed on track for a Qualifying Round spot, reserved for the top four teams after the single-round eliminations.
Cayuna recorded 13 excellent sets and four points, while Aquino added 11.
Erika Santos scored nine points, followed by Jacqueline Acuna with eight, while Ishie Lalongisip had five points, along with 10 excellent digs and six receptions.
Chinnie Arroyo and Thea Gagate scored 11 points each for ZUS Coffee, which slid to 1-6 but is still in contention for the Play-In stage.
Jovelyn Gonzaga scored eight points, while Cess Robles and Riza Nogales contributed seven and six points, respectively.
Cignal will take a short break before facing Capital1 on March 14 and Creamline on March 21. (PNA)
