MANILA – Two foreign nationals were arrested Wednesday night for the alleged illegal sale of firearms in Pasay City.

According to the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Thursday, the two – a 39-year-old Chinese national and a 33-year-old Taiwanese national – were arrested during a buy-bust operation.

The operation was launched after police received an intelligence report that a foreign national known by the alias Lucy was selling unregistered firearms in the southern part of Metro Manila.

Seized during the operation were one 9mm revolver, three live 9mm ammunition, a marked buy-bust money consisting of a genuine one-thousand-peso bill mixed with boodle money, two mobile phones, and a pouch bag.

The inventory of confiscated items was conducted on-site in the presence of required witnesses, the PNP said in a statement.

The suspects were informed of their rights in a language they understood and were assisted by an interpreter before being brought to the office of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group for proper documentation and disposition.

The PNP reminded the public that possession, sale, or transport of firearms without the necessary permits is punishable under the law. (PNA)
