MANILA – The camp of Leyte 1st District Rep. Ferdinand Martin Romualdez on Wednesday said it has yet to receive any official complaint from the Office of the Ombudsman, as it firmly denied allegations of wrongdoing.
In a statement, lawyer-spokesperson Atty. Ade Fajardo said they “have not received any official copy of the alleged complaint from the Office of the Ombudsman.”
He added that the former Speaker “categorically and unequivocally” rejected the accusations, stressing that Romualdez “has acted at all times within the bounds of law.”
The spokesperson underscored the need to observe proper procedure.
“We expect due process to be observed. Once formally furnished, we will respond fully before the proper forum,” Fajardo said.
Romualdez’s camp also maintained its readiness to respond to the allegations once official notice is received.
Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla earlier said there is a pending investigation into money laundering against Romualdez and that they are seeking a freeze order on his assets. (PNA)
