BAGUIO CITY – The Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) recorded zero crime incidents during the two grand parades of the Panagbenga festival on Feb. 22 and 23, despite the huge crowd of spectators.
Col. Ruel Tagel, BCPO director, said in a media interview on Tuesday that “the smooth and orderly conduct of these highly anticipated events was a product of careful planning, strategic coordination, and multi-sector collaboration.”
He said they coordinated with the various stakeholders and the organizers to ensure a smooth flow of the activities.
“Months before, BCPO worked with the Baguio Flower Festival Foundation, local government agencies, and key stakeholders to develop comprehensive security and traffic management plans,” Tagel said.
He said extensive public information efforts were also carried out to ensure that safety reminders, road advisories, and other important announcements reached a wide audience through various platforms.
Tagel said personnel augmentation from the regional office and strong police presence, combined with proactive law enforcement measures, effectively deterred criminal activities and ensured a safe environment.
“The success of the events was made possible with the cooperation of the public whose vigilance and adherence to security measures significantly contributed to the safety of all,” he said.
“The peaceful and orderly celebration of Panagbenga is a testament of our collective efforts in keeping Baguio safe.”
Tagel urged the public to check out the online application BCPOView Baguio for announcements, safety tips, and ordinances being implemented to ensure continued peace and order in this capital city, particularly in the central business district and the different parks and tourist attractions. (PNA)
