Bigger and better than ever, the US-Philippines Expo returns to Fairplex Pomona on August 4-5, 2012. This event is first and foremost a trade and consumer show for Filipinos. It is a vast gathering of the companies and organizations that cater to and support the Filipino community and a celebration of Filipino food, culture, talent and lifestyle.
“The US-Philippines Expo has so much to offer this year— there is something for Dad, Mom and the kids — and of course, for Lolo and Lola,” VP Operations of Libra Entertainment Ms. Theresa Fernandez said at the press conference on June 24 at the Charisma Life church in Pomona. “We are preparing a generous amount of activities that will make this event a true family affair,” she added.
“We already have over 100 exhibitors and more have expressed desire to join the bandwagon of last-minute participants. We are occupying Buildings 4 and 6 to accommodate all the activities lined-up for everybody. Our two-day schedule is jam-packed with games, contests and a beauty pageant.”
3 Mile Walk and Fundraiser
The City of Pomona will host a 3-mile walk, headed by Mayor Elliott Rothman, who through the years has shown his enduring support to the Filipino community. Benefiting this walkathon is the Beautiful Day Foundation, a non-profit organization which mission is to create awareness about breast cancer.
The walk begins at Palomares Park at 499-435 East Arrow Highway, Pomona, CA 91766.
Registration opens at 7:00 A.M. Registration fee is $50.
The Beautiful Day Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness about breast cancer and providing education about the disease to young women around the world. They help young women with breast cancer deal with daily challenges, as they build a community that is full of energy, grace, humor and style – turning each day into a beautiful day.
This community is a network of professionals, volunteers and patients who share information, support and resources in the fight against breast cancer.
Everyone is invited to participate in the symbolic opening of the U.S.-Philippine Expo 2012 by walking for a good cause to support these two non-profit organizations. The 3-Mile Walk will finish at the Fairplex Building 4, followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Tribute to U.S. Troops and World War II Veterans
Mayor Rothman, Consul General Mary Jo Bernanrdo Aragon, US-Philippine Expo Founder and President Ruben Panopio Jr. and other VIP’s will be escorted to the main stage by the U.S. Marines Color Guards to address the attendees and guests, and to pay tribute the U.S. troops and veterans of World War II.
This will officially open the memorabilia exhibit which will feature historical items from World War II, including British rifles, bayonets, bolos, medals and the flags used during this time period.
It will also feature promotional material from “Forgotten Soldiers,” a documentary film by Donald Plata, written by Chris Schaefer and narrated by Lou Diamond Phillips. It honors a group of U.S. Army Philippine Scouts who fought with General Douglas MacArthur during the siege of Bataan.

The 1st Annual International Speed Meet (ISM) at the US-Philippines Expo 2012 will be housed at Fairplex Pomona Building 6 on August 4 and 5, 2012. Headlining the event is Filipino racing champion Don Pastor and ISM spokesmodel Nicole Reckers. Motorsport and car enthusiasts will be treated to a line-up of exotic cars on display, with car-modification experts and vendors on stand-by – ready to assist spectators and would-be clients.
Hip Hop Dance Crew Competition
The eMotion Ethnic Motion Hip Hop Dance Crew competition will rock the audience on Saturday afternoon with Filipino dance crews competing for the cash prize of $3,000 and media exposure. The winners will be invited to perform as special guests on Showtime!
eMotion promises to deliver an unparalleled experience to both participants and spectators in its effort to build its reputation as the Filipino authority on Urban Dance and lifestyle.
“As with other artistic expressions and disciplines, Hip hop is continuously transforming and redefining itself with each generation of dancers,” said U.S.-Philippine Expo Founder and C.E.O., Mr. Ruben Panopio Jr. as he anticipates each performance from local talents. “I look forward to what this year’s contestants will bring to the show,” he added.
While creativity, technique, uniqueness and artistic freedom is always encouraged, each dance routine must be consistent with family entertainment – which is what the entire festival is all about.
The growing list of competitors includes The JK Project, Remnant, Boomkaz, Project Genesis, Alhambra All Male and Emanon.
