Dawn Zulueta admitted that she was worried about how moviegoers would react to her role in “Love Me Tomorrow” as Piolo Pascual’s love interest considering their age gap.

However, she felt relieved when she started receiving positive feedback on social media when the teaser of the upcoming Star Cinema movie was finally released.

“Baka mag ‘eew’ sila. Pero talaga po, I’m really grateful [na they think bumagay ako sa age ni Piolo],” she said. “I’m glad na ganun ang reaction ng mga tao. They are kind to me.”

Asked how she manages to still look young at 47, Zulueta said: “Talagang exercise ako ng exercise. Kailangan kong sabayan ito. Medyo dehado tayo sa age.”

Despite this, Zulueta said she never hesitated when “Love Me Tomorrow” was offered to her.

“I thought it was an exciting project and I’ve wanted to work with Piolo. Matagal ko na pangarap makatrabaho siya. It’s just that hindi pa kami makaisip that time kung anong bagay na project para sa amin. I think that this particular material is timely,” she said.

Zulueta said the movie is also a great opportunity for her to do away with the roles she’s accustomed to playing in her recent projects.

“It’s a wonderful opportunity also for me to do something different. Usually kasi lately ang mga nagagawa kong projects, puro role of a mother. Maiba naman. Ang ni-request ko lang sa project na ito, ayaw ko na ng drama. I wanted to do something lighter para naman I can also explore my other facilities as an actress,” she said.

For his part, Pascual is just as excited to be working with Zulueta.

“I’ve seen her films. Gusto ko talaga siya makatrabaho. The challenge for me was huwag ma-overwhelm, ma-star struck kasi talagang nakaka-intimidate. Day one pa lang, I remember na-shock ako because all her scenes talagang take one. I thought I’d be okay because malapit naman sa akin yung role ko but I was really intimidated because Ms. Dawn knew what she was doing so I had to level up,” he explained.

But more than anything, Pascual feels honored to be given an opportunity “to work with somebody of her caliber.”

“Kailangan galingan ko pa, mas ayusin ang ginagawa ko. For me, I accepted it not as a challenge but as a blessing,” he said.

Aside from Zulueta and Pascual, “Love Me Tomorrow” also stars Coleen Garcia. Directed by Gino M. Santos, it will open in theaters nationwide on May 25. (MNS
