(Relaxnews) – Warner Bros. Studio Tour London opens March 31, offering visitors, “The Making of Harry Potter,” a behind-the-scenes experience of the cinematic magic of Harry Potter, complete with the actual sets, costumes, animatronics, special effects and props from the eight films in the series.

Warner Bros. Studio London at Leavesden

The three-hour self-guided walking tour allows visitors to see The Ministry of Magic, 4 Privet Drive and the iconic sets created by production designer Stuart Craig. Videos will show the secrets behind the filmmaking, like green screen technology that demonstrate Quidditch matches with Harry’s Nimbus 2000 and the Firebolt.

The Great Hall

In the iconic Great Hall, actual features include the original York stone floor, solid oak and pine tables built for the films and aged with axes and chains, as well as students’ carved graffiti. Mannequins display various professors’ costumes.

The Potions Classroom

The dark and mysterious Potions Classroom is among the many rooms to view including the Gryffindor common room and boys’ dormitory with the original beds, and Professor Snape’s lair, Hagrid’s hut and his famous motorcycle.

Professor Umbridge’s office

The glorious pink office in the Ministry of Magic features details such as the hand-painted cat porcelain plates made for the films. Visitors can also see Ollivanders wand shop, Gringotts Wizarding Bank and Eeylops Owl Emporium.

Dumbledore’s office

Within Dumbledore’s office, visitors can view the authentic Sword of Gryffindor, Sorting Hat and Hogwarts headmaster portraits displayed on the walls.

The Weasley Kitchen

The Weasley kitchen will display the special effect props including the self-washing frying pan, knitting needles and chopping boards. “The sets all have tiny little details that you may not always notice in the films but when you actually walk through them, you can see all the work that’s gone into it,” says Rupert Grint who played Ron Weasley. “It’s really amazing.”

Creature Effects Workshop

The animatronics and makeup designs feature Harry Potter creatures such as Buckbeak the Hippogriff, Aragog, the giant spider, Fawkes the phoenix and the enormous Basilisk head.

The Hogwarts Model

A 1:24 scale replica of Hogwart’s Castle provides a 360-degree view of the 50-foot wide building. More than 2,500 fiber optic lights simulate torches passing through hallways. “It was such a magical place to grow up,” says Daniel Radcliffe. “People will be amazed to see the incredible sets that we’ve worked in all these years.”

The attraction, located about 20 miles (30 km) outside London, opens its doors to reveal the home of Harry Potter films, covering more than 150,000 square feet (14 000 sq m).
