(Relaxnews) – Attention design fans: two great American landmarks, the Lincoln Memorial in Washington and the Flatiron building in New York go on sale this year as part of the Lego Architecture series.
The Flatiron building, located close by the toy giant’s new headquarters in New York’s Flatiron district, inspired Lego to create a replica which features an off-axis tilt, website Archdaily reports.
Meanwhile the Lincoln Memorial, a national monument designed by architect Henry Bacon to resemble a classic Greek temple, has been transformed into a Lego set featuring 36 Doric columns, representing the states of the USA when President Lincoln was in power. The model also features a removable roof, allowing a view of a model of the Abraham Lincoln statue within the building.
According to Lego, the Lego Architecture product line is about “celebrating the world of architecture through the medium of the Lego brick and for all with an interest in design, architecture and history.” Existing buildings in the series include the Eiffel Tower, the Trevi Fountain and the Sydney Opera House.
The Lincoln Memorial set, priced at $29.99, is available now, the Flatiron set to be released this year.
