(Relaxnews) – Due in theaters on July 1, 2015, “Terminator Genisys” marks the return of Arnold Schwarzenegger to one of his most iconic roles. A new trailer offers a first look.

Described as a reboot of the original film, which was directed by James Cameron in 1984, “Terminator Genisys” is actually a retelling of the first two episodes in the franchise. John Connor sends Kyle Reese into the past to help his mother Sarah Connor. But Reese lands in an alternate version of the past, where nothing is as he expected.

The new trailer spotlights Emilia Clarke (“Game of Thrones”), who is all but unrecognizable in the role of Sarah Connor, and Schwarzenegger, who reprises his role as T-800 after 30 years. Jason Clarke, Jay Courtney, Matt Smith and J.K. Simmons are also featured in the movie, which is directed by Alan Taylor (“Thor: The Dark World”).

“Terminator Genisys,” the first film in a new trilogy from Paramount Pictures, is due for release on July 1, 2015 in the US.
