UP Concert Chorus

The world acclaimed University of the Philippines  Concert Chorus will perform at the Michael J. Slattery Hall of the Saint Kateri Tekakwitha Church in Santa Clarita on Saturday, January 4, 2014. Most recently, they competed at the “2012 Festival Internacional de Musica de Catonigros” in Catalonia, Spain and took home the First Prize in the Folk Category and 2nd Prize in the Mixed Category. The Philippines bestowed upon them the 2012 Aliw Awards Foundation Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in Music since the 1960s.

The evening will showcase the UPCC versatile and exhilarating performance in what is billed as “An Evening of Classical, Folk, Pop and Broadway Musical Genres with Signature Vibrant Choreography…” Already,  alumni of the State University in the Los Angeles area are beaming with enthusiasm on the anticipated UP concert Chorus gala performance in the beautiful City of Santa Clarita, a city north of Los Angeles voted as one of the nation’s safest, dynamic and most ideal places to raise a family.

Santa Clarita Valley, home to Six Flags Magic Mountain, The Newhall Country Walk of Fame, a sprawling Westfield Mall and its own Central Park  is honored to bring into the community these wonderful and exciting performers for an evening that promises to be one for the memory books. The show is put together by the Saint Kateri Filipino Community, the UP APO North America and the Alpha Phi Omega of Greater Los Angeles. Kababayan Today, PLDT US Mobility, LBC Cargo, PNB Remittance Centers, UP Alum Dr. Rafael Sustento, DDS and the  Philippine Department of Tourism Los Angeles have thrown in their support for the show.

So save the date and place, Saturday, January 4, 2014, Msgr. Michael J. Slattery Hall, Saint Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Church ,22508 Copper Hill Drive Santa Clarita, CA 91350. A No-Host Reception from 6:00 PM – 7:45 PM will be provided by Fiesta Grill Santa Clarita. Showtime will be at 8:00 PM and dancing until 11:00 PM after the Concert.  For those who would like to hear mass, there is a 5:30 PM schedule just across patio from the hall.
