The things Andre admires about Barbie
Working together for two years now, love team and “That’s My Amboy” lead stars Andre Paras and Barbie Forteza have become closer to each other.
This friendship redounds to their undeniable onscreen chemistry, first seen on the GMA teleserye “The Half Sisters” in 2014.
“Barbie just gets better and better. Lahat nahawa sa kanya sa acting, we know that she’s a best actress. Kahit na anong role ibigay mo sa kanya, nagagawa niya. She’s younger by two years pero nakaka-relate siya sa mga veteran actors. Just to see her doing it, nakaka-inspire talaga for me to work hard also,” Andre said in an interview.
Asked what he likes about Barbie as a person, Andre said, “Si Barbie people-person. She clicks with everyone. Importante iyon.”
He also finds Barbie’s smile a winner.
“’Yung smile niya kasi nakakahawa. It’s really nice…”
While Andre has good words for his love team, he clarified that taking their relationship from reel to real is not their priority yet. They would like to let nature take its course instead of being pressured by other people to do “something” about it.
“We really love what we do. Let’s see. Let’s take it day by day. It has to come from us pa. We can’t force a relationship eh. We can’t let fans or other people force it,” he said.
Andre added, “In our heads, it’s work first talaga. We really don’t talk about it. But it’s always work talaga. Importante kasi talaga na no distractions.”
The 20-year-old actor also wants to prioritize his studies. He used to study and play for University of the Philippines. In 2014, Andre transferred to San Beda College. He would like to get a diploma as gift to his parents.
“I really wanna finish school. I really want to get a diploma, I wanna finish something na magiging proud ako,” he said. “Like, maganda kasi for my family when people ask me, I’m in showbiz but I also finished school. Parang it’s nice to hear. Dream ko iyon para sa parents ko, to finish my studies for them.”
Unlike other people his age who like to party and play, Andre puts a premium on saving up for his future and for studying abroad.
“It’s worth it naman. Sabi naman nila save up while you’re young. When you get older, makakalimutan ka din ng mga tao. So it’s better to save up muna and have a plan B,” he said.
Andre feels grateful for all the opportunities given to him by GMA -7. He has high hopes for his love team with Barbie.
“Whatever they give me, whatever they give Barbie, and us, tanggap na lang ng tanggap and do our best in that role. Kasi we can only tell day by day how it goes. Nobody can see the future namin, but if we know na we’re doing our best, for sure tatagal.”(MNS)
