(Relaxnews) – The sequel to “Snow White and the Huntsman,” which has just been dated for an April 22, 2016 release, will delay the reboot of “The Mummy,” Universal has announced. The monster movie is now slated for release on June 24, 2016.

In the interest of giving both films a better chance at a big box office opening, the studio chose to separate the two release dates by a few months.

Due in theaters three years after the first movie, which starred Kristen Stewart as the fairy tale heroine, “The Huntsman” will shift the focus to Chris Hemsworth’s character. Kristen Stewart will not appear in the sequel, which will be directed by Frank Darabont (“The Walking Dead”).

Also just announced, “The Mummy” will be directed by Alex Kurtzman, who has plenty of experience when it comes to reboots. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Kurtzman is also working with Universal to develop a broader cinematic universe based on the studio’s monster movie franchises.
