A new actor will play Superman, who is portrayed by Henry Cavill in DC’s ongoing film franchise, with show exec Andrew Kriesberg saying that he and his team “cannot wait to see who next dons the red cape.”

Lead actress Melissa Benoist is to receive a Saturn Award for Breakthrough Performance in a June 22 ceremony, while “Supergirl” has four further nominations at the event — including Benoist’s additional nod for Best Actress on TV.
