(Relaxnews) – Starbucks in the US has launched a new app that allows users to send and receive interactive Valentine’s Day cards that blow virtual kisses to loved ones.

After downloading the Starbucks Cup Magic app, users can create personalized messages that come to life when recipients point their smartphone towards one of their limited edition holiday cups. Blowing into the phone activates a pinwheel of hearts, while tapping on the screen reveals messages.

In the US, virtual Valentine’s Day cards can also be sent with gifts for in-store purchases.

Meanwhile, both Krispy Kreme and Dunkin’ Donuts have also launched Valentine’s Day specials in the form of heart-shaped donuts.

Dunkin’ Donuts‘s Cupid’s Choice Donut is filled with Bavarian Kreme and topped with strawberry icing and heart-shaped sprinkles, while its Chocolate Heart Donut is filled with vanilla butter cream and topped with chocolate chips.

Rival Krispy Kreme has also launched limited-time Valentine’s Day deals in North America and the UK. Until February 14, select stores in Canada and the US will offer a trio of heart-shaped, iced, frosted and sprinkled donuts, while Krispy Kreme in the UK has launched heart-shaped cheesecake donuts.

The free Starbucks app is available for both iPhone and Android.
