(Relaxnews) – Steven Spielberg has set a new record with 13 nods for the 18th edition of the Critics’ Choice Awards, which will be held on January 10 in Santa Monica.

Lincoln is in the running for the most prestigious categories, including Best Film and Best Director, while its stars, Daniel Day-Lewis, Tommy Lee Jones and Sally Field, are up for acting awards.

Steven Spielberg’s biographical film will have to fend off Tom Hooper’s Les Misérables, which earned 11 nominations,Silver Linings Playbook with ten nominations, Life of Pi with nine, Argo and The Master, tied with seven nods each.

The Critics’ Choice Awards are inaugurating a new category that doesn’t involve the critics’ input in 2013. Since December 11, internet users can head to the Critics’ Awards official website to vote for their favorite movie franchise from the following list: Batman, Harry Potter, Indiana Jones, James Bond, Lord of the Rings, Spider-Man, Star Trek, Star Wars, Toy Story and Twilight.

The winners will be announced on January 10 on US network CW.
