COTABATO CITY – A school district supervisor in Maguindanao del Sur, who was shot and critically wounded by an assailant on Tuesday afternoon died on Wednesday morning, a police official confirmed.

Capt. Argie Eyana, police chief of Rajah Buayan, Maguindanao del Sur, said Dr. Alamansa Ambiton, a district supervisor for the Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE) and principal of Sapakan Central Elementary School, passed away in a private hospital.

“He was laid to rest on Wednesday through Islamic rites,” Eyana said in an interview over a local radio station.

Ambiton, 59, was taking his lunch at a roadside restaurant in front of the school campus past noontime when he was attacked.

Police investigation is ongoing to determine the motive and identities of the attackers. (PNA)
