(Relaxnews) – Hollywood is already taking advantage of the interest surrounding this year’s Frankfurt Book Fair as “The Dark Side” is given to the screenwriter for “Exodus: Gods and Kings.”

Steve Zaillian wrote the script for biblical epic “Exodus: Gods and Kings” with director Ridley Scott and is on hand to adapt Anthony O’Neill’s sci-fi thriller thanks to a pre-existing deal with Fox Pictures.

Set in and around a moon base that doubles as both prison and tourist destination, “The Dark Side” follows an exiled detective who is investigating a series of deaths connected with an anarchic android.

The name of Australian novelist Anthony O’Neill may not be household just yet, but the author has been very well received for Arabian Nights riff “Scheherazade,” historical crime thriller “The Lamplighter,” Napoleonic adventure in Egypt “The Empire of Eternity” and, writing as Cornelius Kane, animal detective novel “The Unscratchables.”

“The Dark Side” came to the attention of Fox after its book scout was given an advanced preview, according to The Hollywood Reporter, while noting that Zaillian and production partner Garrett Basch are currently occupied with TV series “Crime” for HBO.
