MANILA, May 1 (Mabuhay) — In observance of the International Workers’ Day 2021, Vice President Leni Robredo renews her call for concrete actions against contractualization.

Apart from the problem of ‘Endo’ in the labor sector, Robredo also called for protection of workers in the Philippines and abroad, sufficient financial aid for workers, support for those who lost their source of income, efficient public transportation, and safe workplaces.

In 2019, President Rodrigo Duterte vetoed the Security of Tenure bill.

The proposed measure was meant to eliminate subcontracting of labor and limit job contracting to licensed and specialized services.

Also, it aims to classify workers into regular and probationary employees and treat project and seasonal employees as regular employees.(MNS)
