Actor Piolo Pascual shared his experience meeting Oscar-winning actress Meryl Streep at the recently concluded Berlin International Film Festival.
His movie with John Lloyd Cruz, “Hele sa Hiwagang Hapis” directed by Lav Diaz, won the Silver Bear in the 2016 festival, where Streep is a jury member.
Aside from their meeting on the red carpet and on stage, Pascual and the cast of “Hele” also had an intimate dinner with Streep, Clive Owen and the rest of the jury.
“It was surreal! For me, it was enough that I saw her. She was behind us during the entire awards night,” he said.
The actor said he was so overwhelmed that he was not able to take a photo with Streep.
“Nahiya akong magpa-picture. Pinagalitan nga ako bakit hindi ako nagpa-picture,” he said. “Kasi I was too embarrassed to ask. It was enough for me to just see her.”
Pascual was all praises for Streep and Owen, especially after seeing their “human” side.
“I saw how she is as a person, so that was enough for me to realize na tao din pala siya… As much as they are larger than life, they are also human beings, they are just doing their job as well. So for me, it was really humbling. Artists their stature are doing work na libre pa nga yata ‘yun,” he said.
After their Berlinale win, Pascual said he will be busy doing a movie with Dawn Zulueta and Coleen Garcia. (MNS)
