MANILA – The Philippine Embassy in Doha on Tuesday conveyed its sympathies to Qatar following the deadly explosion at a liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility at its massive Ras Laffan industrial complex that killed 13 people and injured several others on June 21.

Qatari authorities, in the initial report, said the incident was due to a “technical malfunction,” and ruled out any hostile action.

“The Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines in the State of Qatar conveys its condolences and sympathies to those affected by the Ras Laffan incident on 21 June 2026 that claimed the lives of 13 individuals and left others injured,” the embassy said in a statement.

“Our thoughts are with the families who are grieving the untimely loss of their loved ones, and we wish a swift and full recovery to those who were injured,” it added.

Based on latest reports, the explosion wounded 66 and resulted in the death of 13.

In a text message to reporters on Tuesday, Foreign Affairs spokesperson Analyn Ratonel said no Filipino was hurt in the incident.

Meanwhile, the embassy said Filipinos in the area requiring any assistance may reach out to its official email at [email protected], or contact (+974) 5527-5123 for consular and (+974) 5118-4242 for migrant worker concerns. (PNA)
