They will dance sideways, suspended hundreds of feet in the air, on the exterior of City Hall.
It’s all part of the grand opening celebration activities for LA’s new Grand Park in downtown Los Angeles. The group, known as Bandaloop, will perform a vertical dance called Bound(less), which is unlike anything ever seen in LA. An international pioneer of in vertical performance, Bandaloop ( http://www.bandaloop.org ) weaves climbing technology, dynamic physicality and intricate choreography to turn the dance floor on its side – in this case the dance floor will be the outside of City Hall.
Here is a link to their reel so you can see how dramatic this performance on City Hall will be.
Bandaloop dancers have danced on buildings and in settings all over the world, including on The Space Needle in Seattle; on Yosemite’s El Capitan; The Old Post Office in Washington, D.C.; The New York Stock Exchange; and many other major venues…but never in LA. And no one has ever scaled City Hall!
Grand Park is located in downtown Los Angeles between Grand Avenue and Spring Street. For more information, visit www.grandparkla.org.
