MANILA – The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has seized nearly PHP2 million worth of counterfeit aerosol insecticides in separate raids in Valenzuela City and Tondo in Manila.

In a statement on Monday, the NBI-Intellectual Property Rights Division (NBI-IPRD) said 13,412 canisters of counterfeit Baolilai insecticides, and 3,042 canisters of counterfeit Big Bie Pai insecticides worth a total of PHP1,972,320 were seized last Oct. 1.

The operations were conducted after complaints were filed by the registered owners of the trademarks regarding the rampant selling of their products in the market.

Armed with search warrants issued by the Regional Trial Court of Manila Branch 46, the NBI-IPRD agents raided the establishments and warehouses and seized the fake products.

The owners of the establishments were charged with violating Section 155 in relation to Section 170 (Trademark Infringement) of Republic Act No. 8293 (Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines). (PNA)
