(Relaxnews) – Instead of balling himself up in the fetal position and trying to squeeze in some shut-eye under the glare of fluorescent airport lights, or idly window shopping at 3 am, one stranded traveler in Las Vegas decided to use his time productively by shooting a music video documenting his loneliness to Celine Dion’s rendition of “All By Myself.”

Within a few days of being uploaded June 8, Richard Dunn’s video has been viewed more than 2.7 million times and given the virtual thumbs up by 713 viewers for capturing “the ennui and existential desolation perfectly,” wrote one fan.

When Dunn, a Georgia-based lighting designer, found himself stranded at the McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas overnight, he persuaded a worker behind the ticketing counter to give him a roll of luggage tape to help him shoot the video, Dunn explained on his Vimeo page.

With impressive aplomb, the Georgia-based lighting designer can be seen lip-synching to Dion’s heart-wrenching take of “All By Myself,” in the empty airport setting; falling to his knees in despair; looking for solace in an inanimate turtle; and to cap it all off, replicating the iconic ‘Flashdance’ scene with a chair and a bottle of water.

To shoot the moving images, he taped his iPhone to the support pole of a wheel chair, and set the chair on the moving walkway for dolly shots.

“For escalator shot I had to sprint up the steps after I got my shot so the computer bag didn’t hit the top and fall back down. Quite fun!” he explained.
