COTABATO CITY – The Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) political party has conceded defeat in the recent Bangsamoro Parliamentary Elections (BPE) and vowed to work with the new leadership of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

The Bangsamoro Party, or BaPa, is headed by MNLF Chairman Muslimin Sema, currently the labor minister of the interim Bangsamoro government.

“BaPa fairly and honorably concedes the results of the first parliamentary elections in BARMM,” Sema said in a statement Wednesday.

BaPa earned 35,671 votes, or 1.9 percent of the total votes cast in the regional balloting.

“This electoral exercise is the fruit of a long Bangsamoro struggle for self-determination, and it deserves to be honored with peace, order, and honesty. It is democracy at work,” Sema said.

Sema noted that his party participated in the democratic process with untarnished integrity.

“Despite these troubling incidents, the BaPa participated in the electoral process with untarnished integrity and unwavering loyalty to the trust and confidence reposed in us by the people,” he said.

Sema added that he was grateful for the dignified efforts of BaPa nominees, party officials and workers.

He pointed out that the MNLF and BaPa will continue working with the regional parliament and reaffirm their commitment to the peace, security and stability of the Bangsamoro region. (PNA)
