CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The Misamis Oriental Provincial Police Office (MORPPO) sacked one of its personnel on Wednesday following allegations of raping an underage girl.
In a statement, MORPPO chief Col. Al Abanales said the suspect was already relieved and detained following an inquest proceeding.
“MORPPO is likewise undertaking the necessary administrative actions in accordance with existing PNP (Philippine National Police) rules and regulations,” he said.
Abanales said that no room for sexual violence will be tolerated among police in active service.
In another update, Brig. Gen. Nestor Babagay Jr., director of the Police Regional Office-Northern Mindanao, said two counts of rape had already been filed against two police trainees who allegedly abused a fellow trainee.
Meanwhile, a police captain and a corporal stationed at the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office are under investigation for charges of acts of lasciviousness for allegedly sexually assaulting a college intern.
Babagay said that misconduct within the police ranks will be met with severe penalties as they implement a zero-tolerance policy for all forms of abuse committed by personnel. (PNA)
