MANILA – The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said the crime rate in Metro Manila dropped by 23.13 percent from Nov. 23, 2024 to May 23, 2025.
In a statement Saturday, NCRPO Director Maj. Gen. Anthony Aberin said the 2,589 crimes are lower compared to 3,368 logged during the same period last year.
This translates to 779 fewer incidents of murder, homicide, physical injuries, rape, robbery, theft and carnapping.
Aberin attributed the decrease to continuous training and adequate resources, active crime deterrence and swift law enforcement response, and alliance with communities and stakeholders to foster lasting public safety.
The decline was notable in major crime categories murder with 25 percent reduction; homicide, 19.18 percent; physical injuries, 25.75 percent; rape, 29.28 percent; theft, 25.51 percent; and robbery, 16.99 percent.
Carrnapping of motor vehicles saw an 11.11 percent decrease, although a slight 5.38 percent increase was recorded in motorcycle carnapping.
The crime solution efficiency also remained high at 69.64 percent from the previous 69.04 percent, while the crime clearance efficiency slightly dipped from 99.67 percent to 99.15 percent.
“We are proving that with clear direction, collaboration and an unshakable commitment to service, the NCRPO can and will deliver lasting peace and security for every citizen of Metro Manila,” Aberin said. (PNA)
