MALAY, Aklan – The masterminds behind the fatal shooting of vlogger Alicia Lipata, popularly known as Mima Alicia, in Caloocan City have been identified, with debt as a possible motive for the killing, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said Friday.

During a chance interview with reporters here, PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., who graced the Improvised Explosive Device (IED) Threat and Security Symposium, said that the investigators were looking at this angle since the victim owed the alleged masterminds PHP8 million.

“It’s about the profession as well as whether they have personal grudge or personal disagreements that started with debt,” Nartatez told reporters.

He said the masterminds, a business couple, have been charged with murder and are still being pursued by law enforcement authorities.

Alicia was gunned down by a motorcycle-riding tandem last July 17 in front of her house in Caloocan. (PNA)
