Former “Pinoy Big Brother: All In” housemate Manolo Pedrosa is grateful for all the opportunities coming his way, including a regular stint on ABS-CBN’s morning teleserye “Oh My G!” Now, he lands his first movie, “Stars Versus Me” co-starring fellow “PBB” housemate Maris Racal.
Manolo has taken his mom’s advice to focus on work and studies. He will take up entrepreneurship at Enderun College this June.
“Laging sinasabi ng mom ko, ‘Manolo, don’t get a girlfriend muna. Focus ka muna school, kapag college na.’ Now, nadala ko na at busy ako sa work,” he shared.
The young actor admitted he has a crush on Julia Barretto among other young stars. However, he clarified, “Hindi pa talaga ako naghahanap (ng girlfriend).”
He added, “For me, dapat established na ’yung guy bago magka-girlfriend kasi pangit naman na hindi stable ’yung guy.”
Asked what qualities he is looking for in a girl, he shared, “Parang wala pa akong standards, pero siyempre maganda.”
Manolo admitted he was attracted to Maris when they were still inside the “PBB” house.
The rapport between the two of them was fairly obvious. “Iba talaga kapag galing sa ‘PBB.’ Sa loob hindi namin alam na may love team, so natural lang ’yung pinakita namin.”
Now that they’ve been paired up, he is keeping their relationship professional. “Hindi naman sa ayaw ko na siya after ‘PBB,’ pero work muna,” he said.
Nonetheless, he admitted that they are now closer than ever. “Mas maganda na comfortable na kami, so madali na ‘yung throwing of lines. Natural lang ‘yung conversation namin sa movie. So, as of now, we’re
getting closer and closer,” he said.
He is still relatively new in showbiz, but he has already learned several lessons that could help push forward his career.
“Bawal maging sheltered sa ganitong buhay. Na-realize ko na acting is very hard. So you have to be mature (about it). Ako before, sheltered ako, sa school lang. Ngayon I’m working na. It’s hard pala to work. Na-realize ko na my mom works so hard for me to be in a good school. I realized na I have to work hard and do my best in everything,” he said.
“Star Versus Me,” which is written by Joven Tan, also stars Jenine Desiderio, Rita Avila, Kiray Celis and Ejay Falcon. It opens in cinemas on June 3. (MNS)
