MANILA – More than PHP112 million worth of illegal drugs were seized from a Malaysian at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 in Parañaque City over the weekend.

The Bureau of Customs reported Monday that inspectors discovered approximately 16.526 kilograms of suspected shabu concealed in the checked-in luggage.

The suspect was subjected to inquest proceedings for violation of Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.

Customs Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno said the operation aligns with the order of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to intensify the campaign against illegal drugs and strengthen border protection measures, according to a Facebook post. (With a report from Ferdinand Patinio/PNA)
