MANILA – Far Eastern University (FEU) secured its second win at the expense of University of Batangas (UB), 25-14, 25-7, 25-19, Saturday night in the 2025 Shakey’s Super League (SSL) National Invitationals Luzon leg at the UB Millennium Gymnasium.
Middle blocker Mitzi Panangin led the Lady Tamaraws with 10 points off eight attacks and two blocks.
Faida Bakanke and Lovely Lopez chipped in nine points each, while Clarisse Loresco, Gerzel Petallo and Ia Madane David scored five points each.
Kylie Macatangay paced the Lady Brahmans with 10 points, while Dhenise Saldo and Riza Drice added four points apiece.
“It’s still different when it comes to this level or this stage of the championship. That’s where maturity comes out, the decision-making that we don’t see in training here, that comes out,” FEU coach Tina Salak commented when asked about FEU’s match against College of Saint Benilde (CSB) on Sunday.
“Hopefully, we’ll have better chemistry inside the court and minimize our errors.”
Earlier, Shahanna Lleses scored 19 points as CSB pulled off a 27-29, 25-22, 25-22, 23-25, 15-8 win over Letran.
Zam Nolasco and Clydel Catarig contributed 16 points and 13 points, respectively, for the four-time National Collegiate Athletic Association champion Lady Blazers, who dominated the fifth to claim victory after two hours and 27 minutes.
“All we did was make in-game adjustments. What we lacked, that’s what we filled in. Going into the fifth set, we talked about finishing it and having a game tomorrow so we could rest a bit more,” Catarig said.
Judiel Nitura delivered 25 points as Lady Knights absorbed their second straight loss.
Sheena Sarie and Nizelle Martin scored 17 points each while Leonilyn Padilla added 11 points for Letran, which takes on UB on Sunday. (PNA)
