(Relaxnews) – American pop star Lady Gaga has turned her attention to a new social media site of her very own: Littlemonsters.com.

The site is currently in closed beta but fans can now request an invite by visiting the site. Littlemonsters.com is being developed by Backplane, a startup partially funded by Gaga that was co-founded by her manager.

According to Mashable this week, the site resembles Pinterest, but with a voting system based on popularity similar to Reddit. The site, expected to launch later this year, will, for instance, allow users to post pictures of outfits or objects they’ve devised in the pop star’s likeness, or share other images all while rating content.

“Backplane is about bringing together communities and Gaga’s community just so happens to be the community we’re using to learn about proper functionality,” Backplane CEO and cofounder Matt Michelsen told Mashable. “We think we can really change the world.”

Gaga has more than 47.5 million likes on Facebook, nearly 19 million followers on Twitter, and over 2 billion views on YouTube.

She is also on Google+ (with 330,000 followers) and was involved in two Google initiatives last year, including a Chrome commercial and a sit-down session with a Google executive to promote Google Moderator.
