MANILA – Former Senator Panfilo Lacson on Wednesday described the 2025 midterm elections as a “game changer,” citing the active participation of young voters and the influence of social media.

“The people have spoken,” Lacson said in a statement, noting that the polls yielded “big surprises on big wins and big upsets.”

He pointed out key elements that shaped the outcome – – the turnout of millennials and Gen Z voters and the growing sway of social media.

Based on the partial unofficial results of the Commission on Elections media server as of 3:30 pm Wednesday, Lacson is in the top seven of the senatorial race, with about 14,857,179 votes.

Lacson noted that the elections underscored important lessons in political engagement and voter empowerment.

“One thing is for certain: when all is said and done, it’s the people who get to decide. This is the essence of democracy,” he added. (PNA)
